Our hotel is situated in Largs, Ayrshire, a beautiful seaside town on the West Coast of Scotland, which has been a popular holiday destination since Victorian times. Largs has the advantage of being nestled between the sea and the rolling hills, which has made it a mecca for a whole variety of activities.

To the south of the town we have a world renowned marina, which holds annual sailing regattas attended by competitors from all over the world including Olympic and Commonwealth athletes. The reason for this is because off the coast of Largs is some of the best sailing in the world, which is not only for professional athletes as we have some fantastic sailing schools.

The island of Cumbrae is only a short ferry ride from Largs pier and is perfect if you fancy a gentle cycle round the island with plenty of stop offs for drinks and ice-cream plus to take in some of the fabulous views out to the spectacular islands of the Clyde including Little Cumbrae, Arran and the Isle of Bute then right up to the Scottish Highlands to the north and Ailsa Craig to the south. The bus takes you from the ferry terminal directly into the town of Millport where you can hire bikes.

Largs is also famous for “Nardinis” who make world famous ice-cream and have a cafe overlooking the seafront which is decorated the same today as it was in the 1930’s. The town also has plenty of places to eat and drink, amusement arcades, a childrens fair and a wide variety of shops.

Kelburn Country Centre is to the south of the town and is great for the wee ones, with a secret forest, adventure play ground, indoor play barn, petting zoo and horse riding.

The hills to the back of Largs are great for hill walkers and a popular walk is through Douglas Park up to the View Point, which offers fabulous views out to the islands of the Clyde up to the Scottish Highlands.

In August of every year Largs hosts the Viking Festival, which commemorates the Battle of Largs in 1263 which saw the Scots defeat the Vikings on the beach in Largs. The festival runs for a week with a full schedule of events and attracts visitors from all over the world. On the seafront there is also a continental market and a fun fair.
